Carmela Remigio, Lisette Oropesa, Joseph Calleja & Markus Werba Headline Festival della Valle d’Itria’s 2021 Season

The Festival Valle d’Itria in Martina Franca, Italy has announced its 47 edition with the theme “Fiat lux.”

The festival which will be held between July 17 and August 5 will feature international stars from around the world.

Operas 

Haydn’s “The Creation” will be conducted by Fabio Luisi and will feature Vassily Solodkyy, Alessio Arduini, Jan Antem, and Sabrina Sanza. Fabio Ceresa directs.

Performance Dates: July 17-31, 2021

Raffaele Pe, Carmela Remigio, Francesca Ascioti, Mariam Battistelli, Krystian Adam, and Giuseppina Bridelli star in Scarletti’s “Griselda.” Rosetta Cucchi directs the production conducted by Georg Petrou.

Performance Dates: July 24-August 1, 2021

Porpora’s “L’Angelica” will be performed with all star cast that includes Teresa Iervolino, Francesca Aspromonte, Gaia Petrone, Sergio Foresti, and Barbara Massaro. Federico Maria Sardelli conducts while Gianluca Falaschi directs.

Performance Dates: July 30 & August 3, 2021

Marckus Werba performs Schubert’s “Winterreise” alongside pianist Michele Gamba. The song cycle will be directed by Libero Stelluti.

Performance Date: August 4, 2021

Pauline Viadort’s “Le dernier sorcier” will be performed with William Hernandez, Laura Cruz Bautista, Manuel Rodriguez, Jessica Poppe, and Nikoleta Kapetanidou. Davide Garattini Raimondi directs.

Marianna Pizzolato and Ettore Papadia perform an evening of Italian music.

Veronica Simeoni and Vincenzo Rana perform the final recital of the season.

Lisette Oropesa joined by conductor Christopher Franklin perform a Bel Canto recital.

Joseph Calleja performs for the centenary of the birth of Astor Piazzolla and the death of Enrico Caruso. Gianluca Marcianò conducts the evening.
