
Bayerische Staatsoper Announces Cast Change for ‘Der Rosenkavalier’
By Francisco SalazarThe Bayerische Staatsoper has announced a cast change for its production of “Der Rosenkavalier.”
The company said that Diana Damrau will sing the role of the Marschallin on March 23 and Jacquelyn Wagner on March 26 and 29, 2025 replacing the originally announced Marlis Petersen.
Damrau recently made her role debut in the opera at the Berlin State Opera while Wagner performed it at the Wiener Staatsoper. Wagner is known for her Strauss, Weber, and Richard Wagner while Damrau has performed a diverse repertoire from Bel Canto, Mozart to Verdi and Strauss.
They will perform the opera alongside Samantha Hankey, Liv Redpath, Brindley Sherratt, and Jochen Schmeckenbecher. Vladimir Jurowski conducts the production by Barrie Kosky.
