Bayerische Staatsoper Announces Cast Change for ‘Die Liebe der Danae’

The Bayerische Staatsoper has announced a cast change for the premiere of “Die Liebe der Danae” on Feb. 7, 2025.

The company said that Manuela Uhl will sing the role of Danae, replacing an ill Malin Byström. 

Uhl has performed at the Theater Kiel, Semperoper in Dresden, Staatsoper Hamburg, Oper Frankfurt, Theater an der Wien, De Nationale Opera in Amsterdam, Opéra Nice Côte dʼAzur, Teatro Real Madrid, Teatro San Carlo, Teatro dell’Opera in Rom, Den Kongelige Opera in Kopenhagen, and  Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, among others. Her repertoire includes the work of Wagner, Beethoven, Weber, Strauss, and Zemlinsky.The soprano joins a cast that includes Christopher Maltman, Ya-Chung Huang, Vincent Wolfsteiner, Erika Baikoff, Andreas Schager, Paul Kaufmann, Martin Snell, Bálint Szabó, Kevin Conners, Sarah Dufresne, Evgeniya Sotnikova, Emily Sierra, and Avery Amereau. Sebastian Weigle conducts the production by Claus Guth.Byström returns for the Feb. 11 performance.
