
Basel Sinfonietta Names New Executive Director
By David SalazarThe Basel Sinfonietta has named Fiona Stevens to the position of Executive Director.
The cultural manager, musicologist, and violinist will focus on bringing new audience engagement tools and socially relevant cultural work to the ensemble.
“The programmatic boldness, openness to experimentation, and democratic ethos of this orchestra are unique in the music world. It is an honour to contribute to its artistic vision and social relevance. I look forward to working with the Basel Sinfonietta team to spark new ideas and initiatives,” Stevens said per an official press release.
Stevens, who is a fellow at the DeVos Institute of Arts Management, takes over for Daniela Martin, who took over the role during the pandemic.
