Austrian Health Minister Rudolf Anschober has presented a new plan to open the cultural sector.

Hours after junior minister of culture Ulrike Lunacek resigned, Der Standard is reporting that Anschober announced a step-by-step plan for the opening of the cultural business that would begin on May 29, 2020.

According to the plan, indoor and outdoor events with up to 100 visitors will be possible at the end of May. On July 1, events with 250 visitors will be allowed including cinemas.

On August 1 events of up to 500 visitors will be allowed and if there is enough security in place, the government will allow events with up to 1,000 visitors.

However, Anschober noted that he wanted to examine the situation in depth in the first half of June to see if opening could be accelerated.

Austria has 16,108 confirmed cases of the coronavirus with 628 confirmed deaths. The country last reported 50 new cases and also announced that 15,099 cases were closed.
