The Teatro alla Scala has anticipated details for its upcoming 2023-24 season.

The company confirmed that it will open with a production of Verdi’s “Don Carlo” on Dec. 7, 2023 and will be performed nine times. The company’s superintendent Dominque Meyer also said that Anna Netrebko will sing the role of Elisabetta and Ildar Abdrazakov will star as King Phillip. The production will be directed by Lluis Paqual.

According to previous reports Elina Garanca and Luca Salsi are also set to star in the “Don Carlo” production.

The new season will also include a concert with Netrebko and Jonas Kaufmann under conductor Riccardo Chailly.

Meyer also anticipated that the 2024-25 season will open with Verdi’s “La Forza del Destino.”
