Tulsa Opera Announces 2027 Season of ‘Spotlight on Opera’
By David SalazarTulsa Opera has announced details for its 2027 season of “Spotlight on Opera.”
The summer training program for opera artists ages 15 and up, which runs from July 11-August 8, 2027, will be entering its 25th year and third as part of Tulsa’s Opera Education Department.
The season is set to open with a Welcome Concert featuring Spotlight’s professional teaching artists. Audiences will also get a chance to see a double bill of Giacomo Puccini’s “Gianni Schicchi” and Michael Ching’s contemporary sequel “Buoso’s Ghost,” as well as Hector Armienta’s bilingual touring children’s opera “Los coyotes y las conejas/The Coyotes and the Rabbits,” the Aria Extravaganza Concert, and the Opera Scenes Showcase.
“After two highly successful seasons in Tulsa, we look forward to welcoming another diverse group of artists for an intensive summer of learning, collaboration, and growth,” said Spotlight Founder and Executive Director Cindy Sadler, per an official press release.
Spotlight on Opera began as a one-week “opera camp” at St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas, before expanding into a five-week program.
