Karen Cargill to Headline 10th Edition of Youth Music Culture the Greater Bay Area

The 10th edition of Youth Music Culture the Greater Bay Area (YMCG) runs from Jan. 29 through Feb. 12, 2026.

The event, led by Music Director Daniel Harding, bringing together young musicians and international artists across the Greater Bay Area.

Karen Cargill headlines a chamber music program alongside the GBA String Quartet and TMCG Ensembles. The program also includes works by Jongen, Debussy, Chausson, Brahms, and Poulenc, among others.

Performance Date: Feb. 1, 2026


Cargill also performs Mahler’s “Rückert-Lieder” with the Greater Bay Area Festival Orchestra. The ensemble is formed by musicians from the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, and Macao Orchestra.

Performance Date: Feb. 6 (Guangzhou), 8 (Shenzhen) & 9 (Hong Kong) , 2026


Then comes a final concert at the Macao Auditorium of Galaxy International Conventional Center that features members of the Greater Bay Area String Quartet, 2026 YMCG Orchestra Participants, and Faculty as they take on works by Strauss, Kodály, Brahms, Hindemith, and Jogens, among others. Cargill is also heavily featured in this program, which is conducted by Johann Guzman.
