SAS Performing Arts Company announces the winners of its 2025 vocal competition.

Coming in first place is bass Son Jin Kim. Baritone Will (June Young) Kim came in second and soprano Tessa McQueen came in third.

Additionally, baritone Justice Yates took home the L.C. Vaughn Sankofa Award for Emerging Artists and baritone Yantian Sun was awarded the Dr. Alfred L. Jannicelli Memorial Award for Emerging Male Artist. Tenor Anders Namerstnik took home The Frank Surdi Memorial Award for Cross Over Artistry, and bass Sun Jim Kim was voted the recipient of the Audience Favorite Award.

The jury consisted of aoprano Latonia Moore, mezzo-soprano Tichina Vaughn, Artistic Director Stephen Scovasso, and Executive Director Deborah Surdi.

The finals were held live on Nov. 23, at Christ and St. Stephen’s Church in New York City.
