Brooklyn Art Song Society to Present ‘Cycles III: Die Schöne Magelone’
By Francisco SalazarOn Sunday, Dec. 14, 2025, the Brooklyn Art Song Society continues its 2025–26 season with Cycles III: Die Schöne Magelone.
The Brahms song cycle features fifteen songs that bring to life Ludwig Tieck’s medieval romance about a young knight from Provence and his beloved Magelone, blending vivid storytelling, lyrical passion, and Brahms’s most dramatic writing for voice and piano.
The performance will feature baritone Brian James Myer, pianist Dimitri Dover, and special guest narrator Chris Hayes.
The performance will have a pre-concert lecture at 4:30 PM by Larry Wolff.
The Brooklyn Art Song Society recently performed Schumann’s “Dichterliebe” and will perform Janáček’s “The Diary of One Who Disappeared” and Schoenberg’s “Das Buch der hängenden Gärten” in the coming months.
