2026 Operalia Competition to be Held in Shanghai

The Operalia Competition has announced its 2026 schedule.

The competition noted that Rolex will sponsor the edition, which will be hosted by the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and the Shangyin Opera House. The competition will also be held from Oct. 26 to Nov. 1, 2026.

Operalia was founded in 1993 by Plácido Domingo to discover and help launch the careers of the most promising young opera singers of today. The competition has been held in Mumbai, Russia, Los Angeles, Prague, Cape Town, Riga, Verona, and London, among others. Past winners include Ekaterine Buachidze, Mihai Damian, Kathleen O’Mara, Le Bu, Juliana Grigoryan, Anthony León, Adriana Gonzalez, Xabier Anduaga, Adela Zaharia, and Levy Sekgapane.
