Zürcher Kammeroper to Perform ‘Olivo e Pasquale’

The  Zürcher Kammeroper is set to ring in the New Year with the Gaetano Donizetti’s “Olivo e Pasquale.”

The opera premiered in 1827 at the Teatro Valle in Rome. and features a libretto from Jacopo Ferretti, who also wrote the text for Gioachino Rossini’s “La Cenerentola.”

“Olivo e Pasquale” is characterized by lively, cheeky humor and music. The cast will include Erich Bieri, Yves Brühwiler, Andrea Suter, Alexandra Forster, Christoph Waltle, Barbara Hensinger, Neal Banerjee, Roland Kornus, and Niklaus Rüegg. Caspar Dechman conducts the production by Paul Suter.

The opera will be performed from Dec. 31, 2023 to Jan. 14, 2024. The New Year’s Eve performance will be followed by a gala dinner.
