Young People’s Chorus of New York City Names New Creative Director

Elizabeth Nuñez has been named the new Creative Director of the Young People’s Chorus of New York City (YPC).

In her new role, Nuñez is expected to will lead YPC’s creative programming efforts.

Núñez has been associated with YPC since 2004, playing an important role in promoting programs and developing opportunities for new initiatives.

“For nearly two decades, Elizbeth has been an instrumental leader within the organization, growing our Schools Choruses program, conducting award-winning performances and so much more,”  said Francisco J. Núñez, YPC’s Founder and Artistic Director, in an officia press statement. “Particularly during the pandemic when we had to pivot and it was so important to keep our choristers engaged, Elizabeth’s vision in creating online programs and virtual events was unmatched. She more than met the moment and we’re excited to see where her new ideas take YPC.”

Núñez has been an advocate for women within the industry. She is the creator of WIT, Women Inspiring Tomorrow, a thriving mentorship program that brings together YPC high school girls with their formerstudents and successful women in various professions. She has led YPC’s School Choruses program and has grown the program for participating schools, benefiting thousands of children throughout New York City.

Núñez has a Master’s degree in Music Education from the University of Oklahoma and a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Lee University, where she received the School of Music’s Distinguished Alumnus Award for her commitment to “changing the lives of America’s youth.”
