By Francisco Salazar

Metropolitan Opera Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin attended the Academy Award on March 10, 2024, as one of the artists representing the film “Maestro.”

The conductor attended with his husband Pierre Tourville and was dressed in a white Yves Saint Laurent suit.

Throughout the fall and awards season, the conductor has attended major events such as the Venice Film Festival and the Toronto International Film Festival as well as the LA premiere of “Maestro” to promote the film. The movie was up for seven Academy Awards but went home empty-handed.

Nézet-Séguin wasn’t the only classical musician in attendance. Tenor Andrea Bocelli performed the in-memoriam segment with his son Matteo Bocelli. The two performed his classical popera song “Time to Say Goodbye,” which was celebrating its 30th anniversary.
