Yannick Nézet-Séguin Cancels Holiday Concerts with Rotterdam Philharmonic

By Francisco Salazar

The Rotterdam Philharmonic has announced a conductor change for “The Nutcracker.”

The orchestra said that “unfortunately, we have to announce that conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin will not be with us on the 22nd and 23rd of December due to illness. We deeply regret this and wish him a speedy recovery. We have found a replacement in Vasily Petrenko.”

The performance will include Children from the National Children’s Choir and the National Boys’ Choir.

Nézet-Séguin is set to return to the podium in January and February for concerts with the Philadelphia Orchestra. He will also return to the Metropolitan Opera for productions of “Lohengrin,” Champion,” and “La Bohème.”

Meanwhile Petrenko is scheduled for a series of performances with the Hong Kong Philharmonic to kick off 2023. He will also be appearing with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and has further engagements with the Orquest Nacional de España and Dresdener Philharmonie as part of his early 2023 showcases.
