Wolfgang Ablinger-Sperrhacke Awarded ‘Chevalier de l’ordre des arts et des lettres’

Austrian tenor Wolfgang Ablinger-Sperhacke was awarded the “Chevalier de l’ordre des arts et des lettres” (“the Insignia of Knight in the Order of Arts and Letters”). Corinne Pereira, the Consul General of France in Munich presented him with the award on Feb. 23, 2022, at the French Institute in Munich.

Ablinger-Sperrhacke received this honor for his “25-year-long contribution to French cultural life.” While an international performer, Ablinger-Sperrhacke has had a remarkable career in France. Most notably with the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence at the Paris Opera where he sang 168 performances. He also has performed many times at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées and at the Capitole de Toulouse.

Next, the tenor will be appearing at Vienna State Opera performing the role of Herod in Strauss’ “Salomé” and as Mime in Wagner’s “Das Rheingold with the Zurich Opera House.
