Wiener Staatsoper Announces Cast Changes for ‘Le Nozze di Figaro’ & ‘Don Giovanni’

The Wiener Staatsoper has announced cast changes for its productions of “Le Nozze di Figaro” and “Don Giovanni.”

First, the company said that Federica Lombardi will sing the Countess in “Le Nozze di Figaro” on Oct. 2 stepping in for Hanna-Elisabeth Müller.

Secondly, the company said that Oleg Ptashnikov will conduct the October performances of “Don Giovanni” stepping in for Pablo Heras-Casado.

Lombardi is a recognized Mozart singer who has performed many of his works at the Metropolitan Opera, Bayerische Staatsoper, Salzburg Festival, and the Teatro alla Scala.

Meanwhile, Ptashnikov is the Kapellmeister at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich and has conducted the Munich Radio Orchestra, the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra and the Orquesta Sinfónica de Madrid.

Lombardi joins a cast that includes Andrè Schuen, Slávka Zámečníková, Peter Kellner, and Isabel Signoret. Ptashnikov conducts a cast that includes Davide Luciano, Ante Jerkunica, Louise Alder, Bogdan Volkov, Nicole Car, Peter Kellner, Patricia Nolz, and Ilja Kazakov.
