Wiener Staatsoper Announces Cast Change for Opening Performance of ‘L’Incoronazione di Poppea’

The Wiener Staatsoper has announced a cast change for the opening night performance of Monteverdi’s “L’Incoronazione di Poppea.”

The company noted that Szilvia Vörös will sing the role of Ottavia on Oct. 6, 2021, substituting Christina Bock.

Vörös is an ensemble member of the Wiener Staatsoper who has performed numerous roles with the company and is set to perform in revivals of “Nabucco” and “Gotterdammerung.” She has also performed extensively with the Budapest National Opera in productions of “Elektra,” “Nabucco,” “Faust,” and “Lucia di Lammermoor,” among others.”

For “L’Incoronazione di Poppea,” the mezzo will join a cast that includes Kate Lindsey, Slávka Zámečníková, Xavier Sabata, Willard Whit, and Vera-Lotte Boecker.

Bock is expected to return to the production on Oct. 9 with the opera set to run until Oct. 13, 2021.
