Obituary: Director Rob Herriot Dies at 60

The board and staff of Opera Canada has announced the passing of Rob Herriot on July 3 at 60 years old.

Herriot was well-known across North America for his work in both opera and musical theatre. Throughout his career he had a long relationship with both Nuova and Manitoba Opera and directed such operas as “Così fan tutte” at Vancouver Opera and Nuova Vocal Arts and “The Marriage of Figaro” at Manitoba Opera.

He also worked with the Little Opera Company, Rainbow Stage, Opera Kelowna, Calgary Opera, Connecticut Opera, Livermore Valley Opera, Opera Hamilton, Utah Opera and Arizona Opera.

He also worked with students at the University of Manitoba’s Desautels Faculty of Music.

He is survived by his husband Lars, their family, friends and our fellow colleagues.
