The Washington National Opera is set to present “Opera in the Outfield” at the Nationals Park on Sept. 30, 2023.

The event will be hosted by WNO General Director Timothy O’Leary and WNO Artistic Director Francesca Zambello and will be sponsored by Mars. The event will feature family activities and pre-show performances at 5 p.m., followed by an outdoor broadcast of Puccini’s La bohème at 7 p.m.

In a statement, Zambelo said, “At Washington National Opera, we are committed to making opera accessible to everyone, and Opera in the Outfield is one of the best examples of that commitment. This community event is where friends and families can enjoy games, food, and drinks while watching one of our favorite productions on the big screen. So bring your blanket to sit on the field or grab a seat in the stands! We especially thank our long-time sponsor Mars in making this event possible.”

The stream of “La bohème” will star  Gabriella Reyes as Mimì, Kang Wang as Rodolfo, Jacqueline Echols as Musetta, Gihoon Kim as Marcello, Blake Denson as Schaunard, Peixin Chen as Colline, and Peter Rose in the double role of Benoit and Alcindoro. Alevtina Ioffe conducts the Washington National Opera Orchestra.
