Washington Master Chorale is set to present “The All Night Vigil at 110.”

The event, scheduled for March 16, 2025 at 5 p.m. at the Church of the Epiphany in Washington D.C., will celebrate the 110th anniversary of Rachmaninoff’s eponymous work’s premiere. This is also the first time that it is performed by the organization in a decade.

“It is hard to overstate the magnitude and sheer beauty of the ‘All Night Vigil’  – the work is like an extraordinary a cappella choral symphony,” said Washington Master Chorale Artistic Director, Thomas Colohan, per an official press release. “It is at once profoundly musical and deeply spiritual – like a small piece of eternity. It’s an honor to be diving into this work again, and we can’t wait to share it with our audience.”

Audience members are invited to bring yoga mats and meditation pillows or alternative methods of seating.

The Washington Master Chorale made a 2017 recording of the work which was revered by BBC Music Magazine as “one of the best recordings” of “The All-Night Vigil.”
