Vasily Petrenko, Bryn Terfel & Adela Zahria Lead Royal Liverpool’s 2020-21 Season

For this article we will only focus on vocal performances.
Ian Tracey conducts the Spirit of Christmas concert with John Suchet as the present and baritone Thomas Weinhappel. The Royal Liverpool Choir and youth choir will also participate in an evening of Christmas music.

Andrew Manze conducts Handel’s “Messiah” with Lucy Crowe, Marianne Beate Kielland, Ed Lyon, and Andrew Foster-Williams.

Adela Zaharia performs R. Strauss‘ “Six Brentano Songs” alongside Vasily Petrenko who also conducts works by Shosatkovich.
Performance Dates: Jan. 28 & 31, 2021
Vasily Petrenko and Sir Bryn Terfel join forces for an evening of Wagner. The program includes selections from “Das Rheingold,” “Die Walkure,” “Der Fliegende Hollander,” and “Die Meistersinger.”

Bach’s St. John’s Passion will be conducted by Jeannette Sorrell with soloists Carine Tinney, Daniel Moody, Gwilym Bowen, Roderick Williams, and Morgan Pearse.

Opera North stages a concert performance of Wagner’s “Parsifal” with Toby Spence in the title role, Katarina Karnéus, Brindley Sherratt, Eric Greene, and Robert Hayward.

Vasily Petrenko performs one of his final concerts as music director in Liverpool with Roderick Williams in a program that includes music by Brend Richard Deutsch, Zemlinsky, Stravinsky, and Webern.

Artist-in-residence Roderick Williams and pianist Christopher Glynn perform a Thomas Hardy Songbook with music by Britten, Bax, James Burton, Vaughan Williams, Ivor Gurney, and Hugh Wood.

VOCES8 sing a program entitled Sing Joyfully with music of Byrd, Rachmaniov, Cole, Berlin, Paulus, and Mendelssohn, among others.
