Vancouver Opera Closes 2022-23 Season With New Production of ‘The Flying Dutchman’

Brian Deedrick’s new production of Wagner’s “The Flying Dutchman” will close Vancouver Opera’s 2022-23 season.

Leslie Dala will lead the Vancouver Opera orchestra and chorus alongside Greg Dahl in the title role. Marjorie Owens will sing the role of Senta, Richard Wiegold as Daland, Wookyung Kim as Erik, Scott Rumble as Steuermann, and Megan Latham will sing Mary.

The opera will be performed in German with English supertitles.

In a press release, Vancouver Opera General Director Tom Wright said, “The creativity going into this production is sure to entice fans of Wagner and those seeking an operatic adventure. Our creative team, being led by Brian Deedrick, is building a magical and fantastical world through projection, costumes, and lighting.”

Queen Elizabeth Theatre will house performances on Apr. 29, May 4, and 7.
