The Vallejo Center for the Arts has announced the postponement of the concert with soprano Othalie Graham scheduled for Jan. 15, 2022.

“Owing to the encroaching spread of the Omicron variant of COVID, VCA’s Board of Directors is taking this step to protect the health and safety of the public and the performers,” said VCA in an official press release. “When a determination is made that the theatre may safely be reopened for public events, a new date for the January concert will be announced.”

Graham was supposed to perform dramatic arias from Wagner’s masterworks such as “Tannhäuser” and “Die Walküre,” as well as the famed Liebestod from “Tristan und Isolde.”

The soprano is slated to perform the role of Santuzza in Mascagni’s “Cavalleria Rusticana” at the Vancouver Opera in February 2022, before taking on the role of Freia in Wagner’s “Das Rheingold” at the Nashville Opera in May 2022.
