Valery Gergiev & Sergei Skorokhodov to Perform in Bogotá’s Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo

The Mariinsky Orchestra is set to appear in Bogotá, Colombia at the Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo on Monday, March 9, 2020.

The orchestra, which will be led by maestro Valery Gergiev, will feature Russian tenor Sergey Skorokhodov and Hungarian violnist Kristóf Baráti as the soloists. The orchestra will perform Debussy’s “Prélude à l’Après-midi d’un faune” as well as Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 1, Mendelssohn’s Violin Concert in E Minor, Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite, and arias from Rachmaninoff’s “Aleko.”

Gergiev and Skorokhodov are both performing at the Metropolitan Opera in a new production of “Der Fliegender Holländer.” Gergiev is conducting while the tenor is taking on the role of Erik. The two have a performance at the Met on March 10, one day after this concert in Bogotá.

Skorokhodov has appeared with such companies as the Royal Opera Stockholm, the Met Opera, the Washington National Opera, the Welsh National Opera, and the Bolshoi Theatre.
