OperaDelaware has appointed Eric Einhorn as its next General Director, effective August 1, 2026.
Einhorn succeeds outgoing General Director Brendan Cooke, who has led the company for 14 years.
Einhorn is a co-founder and former General & Artistic Director of On Site Opera and his directing credits include productions at The Metropolitan Opera, Lyric Opera Chicago, the Glimmerglass Festival, Wolf Trap Opera, and Pittsburgh Opera, among others. He served on the staging staff of the Met from 2005 to 2020.
“Eric Einhorn brings a rare combination of artistic leadership and executive skill, grounded in smart strategy and disciplined stewardship. We’re excited to welcome him as he guides OperaDelaware’s next chapter,” Christina MacMillan, Board President, said in a press release,
Among Einhorn’s stated priorities is the continued development of OperaDelaware’s Company Artist model, which provides full-time employment for performers integrating performance, administrative work, and community engagement. The company will also host this year’s OPERA America conference in Wilmington from May 12–15, 2026.
