Una Voz Un Mundo to Present ‘Homenaje a Carlos Guastavino y sus Flores’

Una Voz Un Mundo is partnering with The United Nations Association of El Salvador to launch “Homenaje a Carlos Guastavino y sus Flores” on Oct. 16, 2020 at 7 p.m. EDT in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.

The concert performance will feature performances by mezzo-soprano Eugenia Forteza, baritone Hector Cisneros, tenor Mario Arevalo, and soprano Clara Iranzo. Pianists on the program include Eduviges Picone, Jose David Eli Garcia Rojas, Daniela Santos, and Markus Kaitla, respectively.

Guastavino is one of the foremost Argentine composers of the 20th century, creating over 400 works, including 150 songs for voice and piano. Among his most renowned pieces are example “Pueblito, mi pueblo,” “La rosa y el sauce (The Rose and the Willow),” and “Se equivocó la paloma (The Dove Was Wrong).” Guastavino is often referred to as “the Schubert of the Pampas.”
