Trinity Church Wall Street Announces 2024 Spring Season

Trinity Church Wall Street has announced its 2024 spring season.

Downtown Voices presented by Distinguished Concerts International New York (DCINY) presents Carol Barnett’s “The World Beloved: A Bluegrass Mass,” along with Benedict Sheehan’s “In the Wondrous Blending of Sounds” from “Akathist,” Arnold Schönberg’s “Friede auf Erden,” Op. 13, and Sergei Rachmaninoff’s “Bogoroditse Devo” from “All-Night Vigil,” Op. 37. Stephen Sands and Tucker Biddlecombe conduct at Carnegie Hall.

Soprano Sonya Headlam, soprano, alto Pamela Terry, tenor Timothy Hodges, and bass Neil Netherly perform Mozart’s “Requiem,” K. 626 with Downtown Voices and The Choir of Trinity Wall Street. Stephen Sands conducts NOVUS NY.

The first installment of the “Bach at One” series features “St. John Passion” and “O Mensch, bewein’ dein’ Sünde groß” from “St. Matthew Passion,” BWV 244 performed by The Choir of Trinity Wall Street and Trinity Baroque Orchestra, led by Avi Stein.

Round two of “Bach at One” features “St. John Passion,” BWV 245 Part 2, “Schauet doch und sehet,” BWV 46, and
“Kyrie” in F Major, BWV 233a.

The Trinity Youth Chorus perform Kim André Arnesen’s “Tuvayhun.” They are joined by soloists Pamela Terry and baritone Christopher Dylan Herbert and The Choir of Trinity Wall Street and NOVUS NY. Melissa Attebury conducts.

“Bach at One” finishes out “St. John Passion” with its BWV 245 Part 3 and offers selections from “St. Mark Passion,” BWV 247.

Domenico Scarlatti’s “Stabat Mater” is performed by The Choir of Trinity Wall Street, led by Melissa Attebury and Avi Stein at the organ.

Downtown Voices and Stephen Sands put on a “Special Compline by Candlelight” including Samuel Barber’s “Agnus Dei.”

Performance Date: March 24, 2024

Countertenor John Holiday with The Choir of Trinity Wall Street, Downtown Voices, Trinity Youth Chorus and NOVUS NY give the world premiere of Luna Pearl Woolf’s “Number Our Days.” Kamna Gupta conducts. Holiday appears courtesy of the Metropolitan Opera.

The first “Bach at One” in April includes Bach’s “Gottes Zeit ist die allerbeste Zeit,” BWV 106, along with Nicolaus Bruhns’ “Paratum cor meum,” and “Prelude in G Major.”

Performance Date: April 17 & 18, 2024

“The Power of Mythology” is presented by TENET Vocal Artists and NOVUS NY. The concert features the world premiere of the ensembles’ commissioned work by Reena Esmail as well as other works by Elisabeth Jacquet de La Guerre, Binchois, Machaut, and Reena Esmail.

Next in the “Bach at One” series is Bach’s “Ich steh mit einem Fuß im Grabe,” BWV 156 and “Sehet, wir geh’n hinauf gen Jerusalem,” BWV 159.

Performance Date: April 24, 2024

Monteverdi’s “Vespers of 1610,” SV 206 is performed by The Choir of Trinity Wall Street, Trinity Baroque Orchestra and led by Avi Stein at the organ.

Performance Date: May 1 & 2, 2024

Up next is “Simple Gifts” performed by The Trinity Youth Chorus. Melissa Attebury and Peyton Marion conducts.

Soprano Shabnam Abedi with The Choir of Trinity Wall Street, Downtown Voices, and NOVUS NY give the New York premiere of Reena Esmail Malhaar’s “A Requiem for Water.” Also featured on the concert is Garth Neustadter’s “Memory of Water.” Melissa Attebury conducts.
