Tri-Cities Opera to Present ‘The Fantasticks’

By Francisco Salazar

Tri-Cities Opera is set to revive “The Fantasticks” at the Tri-Cities Opera Center this February.

“The Fantasticks” was originally created in 1960 and tells the metaphorical story, loosely based on the 1894 play “The Romancers (Les Romanesques),” of two neighboring parents who trick their children into falling in love by pretending to feud. “The Fantasticks” was written by Tom Jones, and features music composed by Harvey Schmidt.

The production will start Peter Kendall Clark, Felix Aguilar Tomlinson, James Siarris, Janine Dworin, Kyrie Laybourn, Jeffrey Matthews, Joshua Sedelmeyer, and Vito Longo. John Cockerill conducts and Tommy Iafrate.

“The Fantasticks” will be performed three times on Feb. 9, 10, and 11, 2024.
