Toledo Opera Announces Cast Change for ‘Il Trovatore’

By Francisco Salazar

Toledo Opera has announced a cast change for its production of “Il Trovatore.”

The company announced that Leah Crocetto will replace Jennifer Rowley in the role of Leonora. Rowley was set to open the production but due to another cancelation at the Opéra de Rouen, will open the French opera company’s production of “Il Trovatore” instead.

Crcoetto, who has appeared with such notable companies as the Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, Washington National Opera, Glimmerglass Festival, and Canadian Opera Company, performed the role of Leonora at the Seattle Opera where critics stated that the soprano “offered some thrilling high notes and a performance that combined power and easy facility.”

The soprano joins a cast that includes Carl Tanner as Manrico, Deborah Nansteel as Azucena and Kyle Pfortmiller as Count di Luna. Adam Turner conducts the production by Jeffrey Buchman.

“Il Trovatore” opens on Oct. 8, 2021.
