The Tiroler Landestheater has announced that it will begin the renovation of its Mainstage Opera House on May 31, 2021.

The renovations will update the stage’s technical capabilities to modern-day requirements. The two shareholders of the Tiroler Landestheater und Orchester GmbH Innsbruck – the state of Tyrol and the city of Innsbruck – are investing around seven million euros in the largest cultural institution in Tyrol and western Austria as a part of the Tyrolean economic offensive 2020.

The house will get a completely fresh look, including a renovation of the auditorium’s interior, a new stage floor, a full renovation of the roof and outer walls, implementation of fire protection measures, and a renovation of the lighting in the auditorium and the operations building with energy-saving LED lighting.

The opera house added that it expects its new 2021-22 season to begin in October 2021.
