Third Eye Theatre Ensemble to Open Eighth Season with Tribute to Women in STEM

On September 17, 2021 Third Eye Theatre Ensemble will celebrate its eight season with the Midwest Premiere of Kamal Sankaram and Rob Handel’s “The Infinite Energy of Ada Lovelace,” and Elizabeth Rudolph’s newly-commissioned mini-opera “Petticoats and Sliderules.”

As the company returns to live performances, the organization has chosen to pay tribute to those in the STEM fields who have worked so tirelessly throughout pandemic, selecting works which feature women who were trailblazers in the fields of mathematics and engineering. Per Website Planet, less than one in five employees in hi-tech industry are women, even though wome make up more than 50 percent of the U.S. workforce.

Music director Jason Carlson and stage director Rose Freeman lead a roster of artists which includes Rena Ahmed, Moly Burke, Maz Hosmer, Vince McPherson, Noah Gartner, Matthew Peckham, Angel Born, Katherine Bruton, and Tracey Furling, under the baton of conductor Alexandra Enyart.

The production will run until October 3, 2021. Tickets are available for $30, with $1 of each sale going being donated to the nonprofit Calculated Genius, which helps provide opportunities for underrepresented youth in engineering.

Third Eye’s eight season is supported in part by the MacArthur/Driehaus Foundations and the Gaylord and Dorothy Donnelly Foundation.
