Théâtre Orchestre Bienne Soleure Cancels ‘Mazeppa’

The Théâtre Orchestre Bienne Soleure in Switzerland has canceled its production of Tchaikovsky’s “Mazeppa.”

The company said, “due to the current situation in Ukraine, we are forced to cancel the performance of the opera ‘Mazeppa’ on Sunday, March 6th, 2022 at 5 p.m. in the Biel City Theater. The follow-up performances of ‘Mazeppa’ in Biel and Solothurn are also canceled.”

As a result, the board of trustees and the management of TOBS have decided to replace “Mazeppa” with a peace concert “Verdi per la pace.”

The concert will include music from “Il Trovatore” and “La Traviata.” the concert is set to be conducted by Yannis Pouspourikas and Francis Benichou with soloists Aleksei Isaev, Askar Abdrazakov, Jordanka Milkova, Eugenia Dushina, Igor Morozov, Javid Samadov, Konstantin Nazlamov, and Valentin Vassilev.
