The Theater St. Gallen and the Sinfonieorchester St. Gallen will team up to present Verdi’s “Requiem” starting on May 6, 2023 at 7 p.m.

The famed work will be presented in a staged production by Krystian Lada with Modestas Pitrenas conducting. The opera will feature soprano Hulkar Sabirova, mezzo-soprano Martina Belli, tenor Christopher Sokolowski, and bass Msimelelo Mbali. The production will also showcase Chantal Le Moign, Guang-Xuan Chen, Steven Forster, Christian Hettkamp, Swane Küpper, Emily Pak, Marcus Schäfer, Samuel Trachsel, Minghao Zhao, the Chorus of the Theater St. Gallen, the Theaterchor Winterthur, and the Opernchor St. Gallen.

Per an official press statement issued by the companies, “with the major themes of transience and a new beginning, the production is also symbolic for the Theater St.Gallen in 2023: it marks the end of the time in the temporary theater, after the summer break follows the return to the renovated and expanded theater building.”

Verdi’s “Requiem” will be featured a total of nine times through June 11, 2023.
