The Dallas Opera Gives Susan Geyer 2022-23 General Director’s Award

By David Salazar

The Dallas Opera has honored Susan Geyer with the 2022-2023 General Director’s Award in recognition of her exceptional leadership and volunteer contributions to The Dallas Opera.

Since 1982, Geyer has been attending TDO performances and she became a Trustee during the 2010-2011 Season. In July 2020, she assumed the role of Secretary of the Board of Directors. Geyer has demonstrated a strong commitment to arts education, dedicating her time as a volunteer for TDO’s Education Committee since 2010. She has served as Co-Chair and Chair of the committee since 2014.

Additionally, Geyer played a pivotal role as part of the founding Committee for the Hart Institute for Women Conductors in 2015. Being a longstanding member of The Dallas Opera Guild, she is currently wrapping up her term as Guild President, a position she shared with her husband, Mark. Notably, Geyer’s relentless advocacy for cultivating younger audiences has inspired the transformation of The Dallas Opera Guild into Bravo, a new program aimed at attracting new enthusiasts and volunteers.

The company recently named a Quincy Roberts as the new Board Chair and also announced Kangmin Justin Kim as the prestigious “Maria Callas Debut Artist of the Year.”
