Brooklyn Art Song Society to Present Departures III

By Francisco Salazar

The Brooklyn Art Song Society is set to present “Departures III.”

The concert will conclude the New Voices Festival and showcase a meditation on loss and longing.

The program will feature Lembit Beecher’s “Looking at Spring,” which reflects on the passage of time and aging, alongside two BASS-Commissioned World Premieres by Daniel Felsenfeld (Visiting San Francisco) and Jessica Meyer (with a gift for burning), and Pandemic-era songs by Caroline Shaw (How Do I Find You) and Alex Weiser (Let It Be Forgotten).

Soloists will include soprano Mary Bonhag, mezzo-soprano Sarah Nelson Craft, tenor Andrew Fuchs, violinist Stanichka Dimitrova, violist Jessica Meyer, cellist Karen Ouzounian, bassist Margeurite Cox, and pianists Lembit Beecher and Michael Brofman.

The concert will be held on June 6 at the First Unitarian Church of Brooklyn.
