Teodor Currentzis has left his position as artistic director of the Perm State Opera and Ballet Theatre.

Currentzis, who is currently the Chief Conductor of the SWR Symphony Orchestra, will, however, maintain his position as the head of Musica Eterna, which has maintained an eight-year artistic residence with the Perm State Opera. Musica Eterna will now transfer to Moscow or St. Petersburg and will become an independent entity.

The conductor will also remain head of the company’s Diaghilev Festival, which will acquire an additional outlet at the Chatelet Theatre in Paris in 2021

Currentzis is currently on tour with the SWR Symphony Orchestra conducting Shostakovich No. 7 in Mannheim, Vienna, Freiburg, and Stuttgart.  He also conducts “Idomeneo” this summer at the Salzburg Festival.
