The Royal Swedish Opera and the Royal Dramatic Theatre have announced tenor Daniel Johansson as one of the 2025 recipients of the Gunn Wållgren Scholarships.

The fund annually recognizes one artist from each institution for significant artistic contributions.

Johansson, one of Sweden’s leading tenors, is honored for two decades of artistic development across lyric and dramatic repertoire. He has performed at the Wiener Staatsoper, San Francisco Opera, Deutsche Oper, Semperoper Dresden, the Finnish and Norwegian National Operas, Folkoperan, Glyndebourne, and Royal Swedish Opera, among others. He is also a Court Singer (appointed in 2018) and received the King’s Medal Litteris et Artibus in 2021.

The other winner was actor Sanna Sundqvist, who has appeared in over 30 productions at Dramaten.
