Tempesta di Mare Announces Spring 2024 Slate

Philadelphia’s Tempesta di Marea has announced its 2024 Spring season.

Here is a rundown of the vocal performances.

The company opens with “Cruel Amaryllis” this February. Tenors James Reese and Jacob Perry team up for duets by Monteverdi, Valentini, d’India, and Peri, among others. They are joined by three theorbos.

Performances Dates: Feb. 2 & 3, 2024

Baritone Jean Bernard Cerin, keyboardist Joyce Wei-Jo Chen, and cellist Eve Miller join forces to trace the history “Lisette quitté la plaine,” the oldest surviving song text in early Creole as it journeys around the world from 1757 to 1942.

Performances Dates: Feb. 24 & 25, 2024

Then comes “Juditha Triumphans” at Irvine Auditorium at the University of Pennsylvania. Soloists include Meg Bragle, Kirsten Sollek, Rebecca Myers, and Gabriela Estephanie Solís. Gwyn Roberts and Richard Stone conduct.
