Teatro Grattacielo Announces World Premiere of ‘Generación Perdida’
By Francisco SalazarTeatro Grattacielo has announced the world premiere of “Generación Perdida,” a monodrama-opera composed by Mexican composer Jorge Sosa, based on the book by Mexican-Colombian poet Javier Moro Hernandez.
The piece will explore the humanitarian crisis affecting Mexico and Latin America, where kidnapping and forced disappearances have profoundly impacted countless communities over the past decade.
In a statement, Jorge Sosa said, “My hope is that this piece ignites a spark—one that leads to reflection, dialogue, and collective action. Generación Perdida is a memorial to the countless lives lost, and in opposition to the horrors of violence and war, we offer the beauty of art as an act of defiance, remembrance, and hope.”
The work will be performed in Spanish with English subtitles at La MaMa, The Downstairs Theater on July 18, 2025.
Tianhui Ng conducts the new production by Elena Arroz.
