The Teatro Filarmonico has announced a cast change for its New Year’s Eve gala.

The company said that Irina Lungu will replace Aleksandra Kurzak as Mimi in “La Boheme.”

This marks the second cancelation for Kurzak this week, who was set to perform on Dec. 23 at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna.

Lungu is coming off performances at Opera Australia and is set to return to the Teatro alla Scala for “La Boheme” and Staatsoper under Linden for “La Traviata.” She will also sing at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari in a production of “La Traviata.”

The soprano joins a cast that includes Roberto Alagna, Daria Rybak, Alessandro Luongo, Jan Antem, Francesco Leone, and Roberto Accurso. Andrea Battistoni conducts the production by Stefano Trespidi.
