Teatro dell’Opera di Roma to Present ‘Giulio Cesare in Egitto’

The Teatro dell’Opera di Roma is set to present Händel’s masterpiece “Giulio Cesare in Egitto.”

The new production is set to be directed by Damiano Michieletto after having been performed at the  Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Opéra National de Montpellier, and the Opera di Lipsia.

The production will be conducted by baroque specialist Rinaldo Alessandrini and will star Raffaele Pe in the title role, Carlo Vistoli as Tolomeo, and Aryeh Nussbaum Cohen as Sesto Pompeo. On Oct. 17 and 19 the role of Tolomeo will be portrayed by Rémy Brès-Feuillet.

The cast will also include Mary Bevan as Cleopatra, Sara Mingardo as Cornelia, Rocco Cavalluzzi as Achilla, Angelo Giordano as Nireno, and Patrizio La Placa as Curio.

“Giulio Cesare” will be performed from Oct. 13 through 21, 2023 with the opening performance set to be broadcast on Rai3 Radio.
