Washington Bach Consort Announces 2024-25 Season

For the purposes of this article only vocal works are included.
Opening the ensemble’s 47th season is Bach’s “St. Matthew Passion.” Aaron Sheehan sings the Evangelist, with Jonathan Woody as Jesus. Sopranos include Clara Rottsolk and Margot Rood, Kristen Dubenion-Smith and Rhianna Cockrell sing the alto parts, with tenors Jacob Perry Jr. and James Reese, and basses Enrico Lagasca and Edmund Milly.
Performance Dates: September 21 & 22, 2024 (St. Mark’s Episcopal Church & St. Paul’s Lutheran Church – Washington, D.C.)
The “Noontime Cantata Series” opens with tenor Matthew Smith in “Ich armer Mensch.”
Performance Date: October 1, 2024 (Church of the Epiphany)
The vocalists of the Washington Bach Consort perform, “Motet Mania,” a program devoted to the genre of the Motet throughout history–from the Middle Ages to the present day.
Performance Dates: October 27, 2024 (National Presbyterian Church)
Bass Jason Widney serves as soloist in “Ich habe Genug.”
Performance Dates: November 4 & 5, 2024 (St. Mark’s Capitol Hill & Church of the Epiphany)
Soprano Nola Richardson, alto Meg Bragle, tenor Gene Stenger, and bass Paul Max Tipton serves as soloists in Bach’s “Christmas Oratorio.”
Performance Dates: December 15, 2024 (Music Center at Strathmore)
“Du wahrer Gott und Davids Sohn” stars soprano Margot Rood, alto Kristen Dubenion-Smith, tenor David Evans, and bass Ross Tamaccio.
Performance Dates: March 4, 2025 (Church of the Epiphany)
Selections from Heinrich Schütz’s “Cantiones Sacrae” and “Geistliche Chormusik” is presented by the vocalists of the Washington Bach Consort under the direction of Dana Marsh.
Performance Dates: March 7 & 8, 2025 (Live! at 10th & G & St. Paul’s Episcopal Church)
Bach’s cantata, “Am Abend aber desselbigen Sabattas” features soprano Sara MacKimmie, alto Roger Isaacs, tenor Oliver Mercer, and bass Ian Pomerantz.
Performance Dates: March 31 & April 1, 2025 (St. Mark’s Capitol Hill)
Soprano Laura Choi-Stuart, alto Sylvia Leith, tenor Matthew Hill, and bass Jonathon Adams are the soloists in Mozart’s “Requiem.”
Performance Dates: April 27, 2025 (National Presbyterian Church)
Soprano Alicia DePaolo and bass-baritone Ian Pomerantz perform in “Songs of Dedication: Baroque Splendor in Portuguese Jewish Amsterdam – 350th Anniversary.”
