Teatro Carlo Felice Announces Cast Change for ‘La Traviata’

By Francisco Salazar

The Teatro Carlo Felice has announced a cast change for its production of Verdi’s “La Traviata.”

Carolina López Moreno will sing the lead role of Violetta on Jan. 12, 15, 17, and 19, replacing the originally announced Olga Peretyatko.

The news comes after Moreno took over a “Madama Butterfly” performance at the Gran Teatre de Liceu. She also took over performances of “La Rondine” with the London Symphony Orchestra at the Barbican earlier in the fall.

The rising star has performed at the Puccini Festival Torre del Lago, Carnegie Hall, the Metropolitan Club, the Berliner Philharmonie, the Jugendstil-Festhalle Landau, and Cambridge University in England, among others. She has performed the works of Offenbach, Verdi, Mascagni, Leoncavallo, Mercadante, Poulenc, Puccini, and Nino Rota.

Moreno joins a cast that includes Francesco Meli and Roberto Frontali. Renato Palumbo conducts the production by Giorgio Gallione.

La Traviata” opens on Jan. 12 and runs through Jan. 19, 2025.
