Teatro alla Scala Announces Cast Change for ‘Turandot’

The Teatro alla Scala has announced a cast change for its production of Puccini’s “Turandot.”

The company said that Michele Gamba will conduct the production replacing the originally announced Daniel Harding.

Gamba made his Teatro alla Scala in 2016 and has also conducted at the Metropolitan Opera, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Hamburg State Opera, Strasbourg Opera, Toulouse Capitole, Tel Aviv Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, and Washingotn National Opera.

Gamba conducts a cast that includes Anna Netrebko, Raúl Giménez, Vitalij Kowaljow, Yusif Eyvazov, Roberto Alagna, and Rosa Feola. The production is set to be directed by Davide Livermore.

“Turandot” opens on June 25 and runs through July 15, 2024.
