Synchromy Opera Festival to Present World Premiere Double Bill

The Los Angeles-based Synchromy Opera Festival has announced its first annual summer opera festival.

The festival, which will be presented in partnership with Boston Court and Outpost Concerts, will feature a double bill of world premieres on June 4 and 5, 2022.

First up, the company will showcase “The Double” by composer Vera Ivanova.” The work is written by Sarah LaBrie and directed by Alexander Gedeon. Marc Lowenstein conducts. In this work, a troubled hero finds that his digital social profile is acting independently in an attempt to sabotage his life. The work is a reimagining of Dostoevsky’s seminal novel.

The company will also showcase Ian Dicke’s “Roman.” The work will be directed by June Carryl and conducted by Thomas Buckley. The work centers on an AI Assistant and questions the morality of designing machines to take on human behaviors.
