By Francisco Salazar

On Nov. 11, 2018, the Oratorio Society of New York will celebrate Polish Independence.

The concert, led by Kent Tritle, will be part of “100 for 100,” a worldwide musical commemoration of the Polish centenary in conjunction with the Polish Cultural Institute New York, and PWM Edition.

The concert will feature Szymanowski’s Stabat Mater and Górecki’s Euntes Ibant et Flebant. Metropolitan Opera soprano Susanna Phillips, Ewa Płonka, and Jesse Blumberg will perform in the Stabat Mater, which was written on the focus of a grieving mother, in 1925–26, partly as a consolation to his sister who had just lost her daughter.

The concert will also include Vaughan Williams’s cantata “Dona Nobis Pacem,” which was written in 1936.

The concert will be held at Carnegie Hall at 8 p.m.
