Suntory Hall to Present ‘Rinaldo’ as Part of Music Award Commemorative Concert
By David SalazarSuntory Hall in Japan is set to present a Commemorative Concert of the 53rd Suntory Music Award on August 17, 2024 featuring a staged performance of Händel’s “Rinaldo.”
Leading the ensemble is recorder and cornett player Yoshimichi Hamada. The opera stars Tadashi Miroku in the title role. He is joined by Shiho Nakagawa as Almirena and Miki Nakayama as Armida.
The opera will be directed by Keiichi Nakamura and will be presented in Italian with Japanese surtitles.
The Suntory Music Award was initiated in 1969 and is presented annually to individuals or ensembles or their contributions to the development of Western-style music in Japan.
