Styriarte Announces 2025 Festival

Styriarte has announced its 2025 season. The season will honor the 400th anniversary of UNESCO World Heritage Site Eggenberg Palace.

Here is a rundown of the classical vocal performances on offer.

First up is “Das verwunschene Glück,” a ballet opera. It stars Sophie Daneman, Johanna Falkinger, Anna Manske, Julian Habermann, Markus Schäfer, and Dietrich Henschel. Michael Hell conducts the production.

Performance Dates: June 21 – 23, 2025

The King’s Singers present “Renaissance,” a showcase featuring music by Nicholas Ludford, William Byrd Thomas Weelkes, Robert Stone, William Mundy, John Taverner, Hildegard von Bingen, Thomas Tallis, and John Sheppard, among others.

Performance Dates: June 23, 2025

Agnes Palmisano headlines “Dudel Diva,” a concert featuring works by Hummel, Beethoven, Müller, Millöcker, Strauss, Gruber, Fuchsberger, and Stippich, among others. She is joined by the Schrammelorchester.

Performance Dates: June 24, 2025

Beethoven’s Ninth symphony closes a mammoth program that also includes works by Bach, Saint-Saëns, and Schumann. Vocal soloists include Maria Ladurner, Mario Lerchenberger, Matthias Hausmann, and others. Melissa Dermastia conducts and also plays the organ in the Bach “Toccata, Adagio, and Fugue” in C Major.

Anna Manske and Dietrich Henschel are the vocal soloists in “Treppauf, treppab,” alongside Palais Attems Court Orchestra under Amadeus Höll as they take on music by Vivaldi and Haydn.

Francesca Lombardi Mazzulli, Maria Hegele, Aco Biscevic, and Damien Gastl headline “Theresienmesse,” which also features Haydn’s eponymous mass and the “Salva Regina in E major, Hob. XXIIIb:1.” They are joined by the Arnold Schoenberg Chor and Styraiarte Festspiel-Orchester under Michael Hofstetter.

Countertenor Valer Sabadus joins Armonico Tributo Austria and conductor Lorenz Duftschmid for “Der Kastrat aus Eggenberg.”

Terry Wey and Ulfried Staber star in “Multiple Voices” alongside sound engineer Markus Wallner.

Ensemble infiammabile and vocalist Maria Magdalena headline “Mission Weltraum,” a fusion of renaissance and baroque melodies with contemporary sounds, courtesy of composer Michael Stark. Christopher Steiner directs.

The Palais Attems Vocal Academy headlines “Cantiones Sacrae” under Michael Hell, who plays at the harpsichord and organ.

Performance Dates: July 17, 2025

Audiences are invited to join the Arnold Schoenberg Chor, under Erwin Ortner, for a “Sing Along” to music by Brahms and Schubert, among others.

Performance Dates: July 18, 2025

Soprano Elionor Martínez and countertenor William Shelton, headline “Das Feuer der Music,” featuring works by Byrd, Holborne, Tye, Gibbons, and Nicholson, among others. Jordi Savall conducts the program.

Performance Dates: July 19, 2025

Jordi Savall conducts “Ein Meer der Musik,” which features Creole music in dialogue with music from Africa, America, and the Caribbean. It stars such artists as Neema Bickerseth, Sekouba Bambino, Tannis François, Ballaké Sisoko, Mamani Keita, Tanti Kouyaté, Fanta Sissoko, Ada Coronole, Ulises Martínez, maria Juliana Linharrres, Teresa Yanet, and Iván Garcia, among others.
