Stephanie Blythe To Perform At Fringe Festival Pop-Up Cabaret Bar

By Nicole Kuchta

The Bearded Ladies Cabaret will join together with FringeArts and Opera Philadelphia during Fringe Fest to present “Late Night Snacks,” a series of nightly performances held at a pop-up cabaret bar.

The industrial space at 1316 S. Percy St. will be converted into “a speakeasy like none other,” according to the press release. Bartenders from Sassafras and The Tin Angel will serve up top-notch cocktails while guests enjoy entertainment by a variety of artists – from “opera singers to drag queens, cabaret stars to art clowns, and everything in between.”

Acclaimed mezzo-soprano Stephanie Blythe is among the lineup of stars expected to perform. Blythe, whose repertoire ranges from Handel to Wagner, has graced the stages of the world’s foremost opera houses, including the Metropolitan Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, and Opera National de Paris.

Justin Vivian Bond, Martha Graham Cracker, Cookie Diorio, Dane Terry, Jenn Kidwell, Raja Feather Kelly, Adrienne Truscott, Daniel de Jesus, Cherdonna Shinatra, Eric Jaffe, Jess Conda, and Anthony Martinez-Briggs are also expected to entertain Philadelphians during the festival. Full programming details will be released in early August.

“Late Night Snacks” will take place from Sept. 7 – 29, 2019.
